Newfoundland and Labrador
The provincial government has issued a regional state of emergency for parts of St. John’s, Paradise, and Conception Bay South due to the ongoing Paddy’s Pond wildfire. Evacuation alerts currently include the Southlands and Galway neighbourhoods of St. John’s, as well as parts of Paradise and Conception Bay South.

Trips in the area are still operating as scheduled.

• The Topsail Trail hike has been replaced with the Flat Rock to Middle Cove
• Air quality may be affected depending on wind and fire activity.
• We are monitoring updates from provincial authorities and will adjust itineraries if conditions change.

Nova Scotia – Provincial Trail Closures

Due to ongoing hot and dry conditions, the Province of Nova Scotia has closed all trail systems through wooded areas on both provincial Crown and private lands. This restriction is in effect until 15 October, or until lifted by authorities.

• All wooded trail access is prohibited, with a fine of $25,000 for violations
• Great Canadian Trails has modified the Rum Runners Trip to use road routes instead of wooded trails
• Travellers may postpone their trip if they are not comfortable with the revised route – please contact us before your departure to discuss options
